Who We Are

The Wagner Law Group has represented California injury and disaster victims for over four decades. We created Wildfire Victims Assistance as a dedicated resource for Californians affected by utility-caused wildfires — providing focused legal representation for victims of Southern California Edison, Pacific Gas & Electric, and other negligent utilities.

Our firm operates on a simple principle: you pay nothing unless we win. We advance all costs, handle all filings, and fight the utility companies so you can focus on rebuilding your life.

Nicholas “Butch” Wagner

Nicholas “Butch” Wagner graduated as class valedictorian from St. Xavier University in 1980 and went on to earn his law degree from the University of Notre Dame Law School in 1983. He passed the California Bar that same year and has been licensed to practice in all California state courts, all federal courts, and the United States Court of Claims since 1990.

Over a career spanning more than four decades, Mr. Wagner has achieved multi-million dollar settlements and jury verdicts against some of the largest corporations in America — including a nearly $75 million verdict and judgment against Walmart. He has argued before the California Supreme Court and has provided expert testimony before the California State Assembly.

Critically for wildfire victims — Mr. Wagner has direct litigation experience against PG&E, one of the utility companies responsible for the most destructive wildfires in California history. That experience means we understand how these companies operate, how they defend themselves, and how to hold them accountable.

Why We Fight Wildfire Cases

California’s worst wildfires are not random acts of nature. They are the result of utility companies prioritizing profit over public safety — failing to maintain aging infrastructure, ignoring red flag warnings, and leaving power lines energized during extreme fire conditions. The families who lose everything deserve more than an insurance check. They deserve accountability.

The Wagner Law Group takes wildfire cases because the stakes are too high to leave victims without experienced legal representation. Utility companies have armies of lawyers. You deserve someone who has beaten corporations like them before.
